Heartburn Tea
Heartburn is more inclined to happen during pregnancy and statistically occurs in over 50% of pregnancies. During pregnancy, the hormone progesterone is risen, which causes the valve between the stomach and the esophagus to relax more than usual. When the valve is relaxed, stomach acid can more easily pass up into the esophagus which can burn and irritate the lining. …When this happens it can cause an uncomfortable burning sensation in the upper chest, neck and throat…and man does it burn!!!
Heartburn during pregnancy can occur at any time but it is most prominent in the 3rd trimester due to the growing uterus putting pressure on the intestines and stomach.
The good news is that my soothing Heartburn Tea can help! The herbs chosen for this tea are ones that help coat and heal the lining of the digestive tract, form a protective barrier against rising stomach acid, and provide a mild cooling sensation which aides in pain relief and soothes irritation.
Organic Ingredients:
Marshmallow Root - A demulcent herb with a high mucilaginous content which helps coat the protective layer of tissue in the digestive tract. Helps soothe inflammation and irritation in the digestive tract. Acts as an enzyme that helps loosen mucous and inhibit bacteria. Speeds up healing time and reduces inflammation. Acts as an analgesic to relieve pain.
Lemon Balm - Commonly used to treat indigestion issues such as bloat, nausea, constipation and acid reflux. Has a positive effect on the mood/cognitive functions. Has a cooling, mellow mint sensation which helps soothe irritation and relieve pain caused by heartburn.
Red Raspberry Leaf - An astringent that helps treat damaged and inflamed tissues. Also helps the body prepare for labor and improves labor outcomes.
Crystallized Honey - Once melted down into the tea, the thick and sticky texture of the honey helps coat the throat, intestinal tract, and mucus membrane of the esophagus. Fights inflammation & helps keep the stomach acid down with longer lasting relief. Also high in antioxidants. Tastes Super yummy too!
